Dear Sister:
You have heard and already know the importance of prayer. When things are pressing us, we “press in” all the more—seeking God and resolution for those things that are troubling us. Yes, prayer is important.
We know that praise opens the heavenly realm and that God inhabits the praises of his people. He lives in our praise. He responds to our praise. Yes, praise is important.
We get busy praising and praying, wanting so desperately for God to hear and answer us—and answers us right now. Many times He is answering us but we are too busy talking to hear what He is saying. There comes a time when we simply need to be quiet before God—be still in His presence—and just enjoy fellowship with our Father. I find that it is in these quiet times that I hear with clarity and certainty.
. . .A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
–Ecclesiastes 3:7
We need to (that includes me) learn how to enter into the presence of God and be quiet before Him. How can we hear, lest we be still and be quiet? I found a great book that has helped me and I want to share it with you. The book is entitled, “Entering into the Presence of God” by Derek Prince. I have featured it in the Dear Sister Online Store for your convenience. The author takes you step-by-step along the path that leads to the presence of God. It has blessed me and I know it will bless you as well.
I borrow from a recent television advertising campaign:
A college education–$80,000.
Your dream home–$375,000
Fantasy diamond pendant–$500,000
Quiet time with God-Priceless

Hello,
Reading all the dear sister messages have placed me here in the response box. In talking to God I would inquire how can I study and meditate in the Word, raise children, attend meetings, direct the youth choir, praise dance, and etc.? Someone walked into my life and motivated me to eliminate some of the “extracurricular activities” and give that time to God. At first I did not accept that because I viewed it as me helping out and giving my time to the church, children and God in a sense. Actually what I was doing was crowding my life with things that got in the way of my time with God. I could not receive the Word through those activities; I had to read, study and meditate. Once I eliminated those things in my busy life, I had time for GOD. I begin to read for understanding, but I could not lean to my own understanding of the Word; I had to wait on God to give me the SPIRIT. GOD chose that someone that I mentioned earlier to share life with me in marriage. I will tell you how I know that God did it, because whenever strife enters our life and all decisions that we make are based on the Word. Don’t misunderstand me, strife will enter, but it’s how you choose to deal with it. You can do it your way or God’s way. I prefer the latter. There is no other way-that’s gonna last- other than God’s way. KNOW THIS!! Until next time. These postings are GREAT! Thanks for the opportunity to share.

Nothing can measure up to the serenity that comes with a relationship with God. No dollar amount can equal to the love and blessings that He is able to provide. Another thing is, we never know how much we value peace and comfort, until we have constant noise and ruckus in our lives. God is a source of peace that should never be taken for granted. Quietness is definitely priceless. Thanks for sharing.
