A PLACE FOR MY SISTERS
This site is an outgrowth of another journalistic effort in progress. Its intent is to become a “threshing floor.” In the ancient world threshing floors were used to separate grain from chaff. Threshing was a two-fold process that involved the spreading of the stalks of grain over the floor and a threshing sledge was pulled over the stalks by oxen to separate the heads of grain from the stalk. In the second part of that process, the broken stalks were lifted and tossed into the air with a wooden fork allowing the wind to blow the lighter chaff aside leaving the grain which then could be gathered. Sometimes threshing floors were owned by entire villages. This is our threshing floor. And, we are the village of sisters who own it. This is a place where we can gather to share experiences, pray for, and support each other. This is a place where we can lay our issues on the floor, in the spirit of sisterhood, and lift one another up so that the wind of His Spirit can blow through our respective lives–blowing the chaff aside. I am Angela D. Boykin, a sister who sometimes struggle to make sense out of this journey. I welcome and invite you to join me in this place so that we may walk it together.
We realize that our life on earth is temporary
and our circumstances and afflictions, however severe,
are still light and fleeting
when viewed from the perspective of eternity.
You need not lose heart in your heartaches.
God is working through your tirals
in a mysterious but productive manner.
